The latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2014 affirms excellence of the Department of Media and Communication in world-class research. In the discipline of Communications and Media Studies, the department is ranked the first in Hong Kong based on 60 percent of the faculty research activity being judged to meet the standard of 4 star (world leading) and 3 star (internationally excellent). It is the only discipline ranked the first in a territory-wide sector among all the departments in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. It is also one of the six departments of City University of Hong Kong that are ranked at the top in the respective sectors.
